Canopy software
Canopy terms
of use.
These terms apply when you access or use Canopy, the arboriculture fieldwork and reporting application operated by Sorbus Arbor Consulting. By creating an account or using Canopy, you agree to these terms and the Canopy privacy policy. Any non-excludable rights under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable consumer law continue to apply.
1. Accounts and organisation access
You must provide accurate account information, keep your sign-in method secure and promptly tell us about suspected unauthorised access. An organisation owner or authorised administrator may invite, suspend or remove seat holders and assign roles. Users must access only organisations and records they are authorised to use. Organisation administrators are responsible for managing their members and ensuring that professional records are handled lawfully.
2. Subscriptions, trials and store billing
Paid digital access purchased in the Android app is processed by Google Play. Paid digital access purchased in the iPhone or iPad app is processed by the Apple App Store. The applicable storefront shows the product, trial eligibility, local price, billing period and renewal terms before you confirm a purchase. Canopy does not receive your full payment-card number.
Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled through the store account that manages the purchase. Cancellation normally takes effect at the end of the paid period. Deleting a Canopy account does not cancel a store subscription. Refunds, billing disputes, price changes and trial eligibility are also subject to the relevant storefront's terms and processes.
An individual plan licenses one seat. Organisation plans license the number of seats shown at purchase. A verified organisation entitlement may be used by invited members on supported Android and Apple devices, but the same organisation cannot obtain duplicate paid access from multiple storefronts through Canopy. Additional or custom organisation arrangements require written confirmation.
3. Your project content
You retain responsibility for project information, photographs, drawings, reports and other content you enter. You grant us the limited permission needed to store, synchronise, process, back up and present that content to you and authorised organisation members. You must have the right to collect and use the information you add, including client details, locations and photographs.
4. Professional judgement and outputs
Canopy is a fieldwork, mapping and reporting tool. It does not replace a qualified practitioner, site-specific investigation, professional judgement, legal advice or compliance with applicable standards. Calculations and mapped values described as approximate remain estimates. The responsible practitioner must review, interpret and approve every recommendation, calculation, map and report before relying on or issuing it.
5. Acceptable use
You must not use Canopy to break the law, infringe rights, access another organisation without permission, introduce malicious code, interfere with the service, defeat security or billing controls, scrape the service, or upload content you do not have permission to use. You must not misrepresent automatically generated material as independently verified professional advice.
6. Offline work, cloud sync and availability
Canopy supports local fieldwork and optional cloud synchronisation, but no device, network or online service is error-free. Keep appropriate exports and business backups, check visible sync states, and resolve pending, failed or conflicted items before changing accounts or devices. We may maintain, secure, modify or temporarily interrupt the service. We will not intentionally delete accepted local work merely because a sync attempt fails.
7. Suspension, expiry and deletion
Access may become read-only when a subscription expires, a seat is revoked, an organisation removes a member or security requires restriction. Read-only status is intended to preserve local work while preventing unauthorised cloud changes. You may initiate permanent account deletion from Account & privacy in supported releases. Deletion, shared-record retention and store-subscription cancellation are handled as explained in the privacy policy.
8. Canopy intellectual property
Canopy, its software, branding, interface and supplied materials remain owned by Sorbus Arbor Consulting or its licensors. These terms give you a limited, revocable, non-transferable right to use the service for your authorised work while your access remains valid. They do not transfer ownership of Canopy or permit copying, resale, reverse engineering or creation of a competing service except where applicable law expressly permits it.
9. Service responsibility
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Canopy is provided without a promise that every feature will always be uninterrupted or suitable for every professional purpose. Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, it is limited only to the extent permitted by applicable law. Nothing in these terms excludes liability or remedies that cannot legally be excluded.
10. Changes and contact
We may update these terms when the product, storefront rules or law changes. Material changes will be identified in the app or on this page where practical. Questions may be sent to sorbusarborconsulting@gmail.com.
