This privacy policy explains how Sorbus Arbor Consulting ("we", "us" or "our") handles information when you use Canopy, our arboriculture fieldwork and reporting application, and this website.
1. Information we collect
Depending on how you use Canopy, we may collect:
- Account information: your email address, display name and authentication identifier when you sign in, including with Google.
- Project information: project names, addresses, site notes, tree records, inspection details, photos, drawings, map pins, reports and other content you choose to enter.
- Location and site information: locations or coordinates that you add to a project or map. Canopy does not continuously track your location in the background.
- Subscription information: purchase and entitlement information returned by Google Play or another billing provider. We do not receive or store your full payment-card number.
- Support and technical information: messages you send us and limited device, app and diagnostic information needed to keep Canopy secure and reliable.
2. How we use information
We use information to provide and synchronise your projects, authenticate your account, generate reports and exports, process subscriptions, support you, protect the service, troubleshoot problems and improve Canopy. We do not sell personal information and we do not use your project content for advertising.
3. Services we rely on
Canopy uses service providers to operate its infrastructure, including authentication and cloud data services, and Google Play for in-app subscription billing. These providers process information only as needed to provide their services and under their own privacy policies. We may disclose information when required by law or when reasonably necessary to prevent fraud, abuse or a security incident.
4. Storage, security and retention
Information is transmitted using encrypted connections and access is limited to the people and systems that need it. No online service can promise absolute security. We keep account and project information while your account is active or as needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, meet legal obligations and enforce agreements. Local copies may remain on a device until you remove them or clear the app.
5. Your choices and deletion requests
You can ask us to access, correct or delete personal information associated with your account. Email sorbusarborconsulting@gmail.com with the account email and a description of your request. We may need to verify your identity before acting. Deleting information may affect features that depend on it, and we may retain limited records where the law requires.
6. Children
Canopy is a professional tool and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. International use
Canopy can be used by customers in supported countries. Information may be processed in Australia or in other locations where our service providers operate, with appropriate safeguards as required by applicable law.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when Canopy or the law changes. The effective date above indicates the latest version. Material changes will be highlighted in the app or on this page where practical.
