Information to record
Use these prompts to agree the record for your project. Keep the answers and their source references together; leave an unknown value explicit rather than filling it with an assumption.
- Source file
- Identify the unchanged original and its version.
- Importer requirements
- Record supported fields and required format.
- Sample records
- Choose representative rows for the test.
- Unit and ID treatment
- Document expected handling of identifiers and measurements.
- Test outcome
- Record what transferred, changed or was rejected.
Checks for this task
- Do not test an uncertain mapping against the only production copy.
- Include blanks, text IDs and representative measurements in the sample.
- Compare imported records and error messages before transferring the full dataset.
A worked example
Illustrative example, not a client case: A five-row sample contains a leading-zero ID and an estimated measurement. The reviewer compares the receiving records with the source and resolves a unit mismatch before considering the larger transfer.
Scope and limits
This is preparation guidance, not an import compatibility specification or a promise of a particular app feature.
Use the worksheet
The download contains the prompts and checks above with space for your project notes. It is a plain text document you can edit in a text editor or copy into your project brief. It contains no client information and does not run calculations, import records or change an account.
