Information to record
Use these prompts to agree the record for your project. Keep the answers and their source references together; leave an unknown value explicit rather than filling it with an assumption.
- Source version
- Identify the unmodified original schedule.
- Issue type
- Describe the inconsistency found in a column.
- Affected records
- List the tree IDs or rows involved.
- Approved change
- State how the problem will be resolved.
- Review evidence
- Keep source notes and the check result.
Checks for this task
- Treat blanks differently from confirmed zero values.
- Check text identifiers and date interpretation before saving a CSV.
- Review affected exports after an approved correction.
A worked example
Illustrative example, not a client case: A spreadsheet contains blank height entries and genuine zero values in a different field. The reviewer preserves that distinction, documents inconsistent unit labels and checks the corrected copy against the source.
Scope and limits
Cleaning does not validate professional conclusions or create missing observations; unresolved values remain explicit.
Use the worksheet
The download contains the prompts and checks above with space for your project notes. It is a plain text document you can edit in a text editor or copy into your project brief. It contains no client information and does not run calculations, import records or change an account.
