Information to record

Use these prompts to agree the record for your project. Keep the answers and their source references together; leave an unknown value explicit rather than filling it with an assumption.

Record reference
Identify the tree and field affected.
Previous entry
Retain the value or wording being corrected.
Replacement entry
State the corrected information clearly.
Evidence and reason
Explain the basis for the correction.
Issue impact
Identify outputs or recipients affected.

Checks for this task

  1. Confirm the correction with the responsible reviewer.
  2. Check connected maps, captions and reports for the same issue.
  3. Record the correction date and communicate any replacement issue.

A worked example

Illustrative example, not a client case: A measurement unit was omitted from T027. The reviewer confirms the source note, adds the unit and checks the exported schedule. The correction log identifies the earlier issue and the replacement file.

Scope and limits

Do not treat an unverified new value as a correction or silently rewrite professional conclusions.

Use the worksheet

The download contains the prompts and checks above with space for your project notes. It is a plain text document you can edit in a text editor or copy into your project brief. It contains no client information and does not run calculations, import records or change an account.
