Information to record
Use these prompts to agree the record for your project. Keep the answers and their source references together; leave an unknown value explicit rather than filling it with an assumption.
- Tree locations
- Identify the trees within the garden or adjoining setting.
- Owner question
- Describe the decision or concern.
- Observed history
- Give dates for noticeable changes or previous works.
- Access information
- Note gates, pets and the site contact.
- Desired output
- Explain who needs the advice and in what form.
Checks for this task
- Keep observations distinct from an assumed cause.
- Tell the consultant if a relevant tree is outside the property.
- Confirm the assessed trees and deliverables in the agreed scope.
A worked example
Illustrative example, not a client case: A resident wants to plan landscaping around two mature trees. The enquiry identifies those trees, the proposed garden changes and the available space, allowing the consultant to scope advice around the actual decision.
Scope and limits
Photographs and an enquiry cannot replace an agreed assessment or establish permissions for work on neighbouring trees.
Use the worksheet
The download contains the prompts and checks above with space for your project notes. It is a plain text document you can edit in a text editor or copy into your project brief. It contains no client information and does not run calculations, import records or change an account.
