Information to record

Use these prompts to agree the record for your project. Keep the answers and their source references together; leave an unknown value explicit rather than filling it with an assumption.

Report purpose
State the decision the commission supports.
Coverage
Identify the site, trees and visit scope.
Main findings
Summarise the reviewed report conclusions.
Next decisions
List actions or questions for the recipient.
Important limits
Retain qualifications that affect interpretation.

Checks for this task

  1. Write the summary after the substantive report is reviewed.
  2. Do not introduce a conclusion absent from the full assessment.
  3. Check that shortened wording retains conditions and follow-up advice.

A worked example

Illustrative example, not a client case: A management report summary identifies the inspected area, points to the numbered action schedule and notes an inaccessible section. It does not imply that the excluded area was assessed.

Scope and limits

A summary is not a substitute for the complete advice or a guarantee of an approval or safety outcome.

Use the worksheet

The download contains the prompts and checks above with space for your project notes. It is a plain text document you can edit in a text editor or copy into your project brief. It contains no client information and does not run calculations, import records or change an account.
