Information to record

Use these prompts to agree the record for your project. Keep the answers and their source references together; leave an unknown value explicit rather than filling it with an assumption.

Tree ID
Use the same identity as the map.
Height value
State the unit and recorded precision.
Method
Identify an estimate or the measuring approach used.
View note
Record obstructions or restricted viewpoints.
Review status
Flag an entry needing further confirmation.

Checks for this task

  1. Use the same convention across the survey team.
  2. Avoid presenting an estimate as a precise measured value.
  3. Check report wording and schedule labels retain the method distinction.

A worked example

Illustrative example, not a client case: T020 has a height estimate with a note that the top was partly obscured. The exported schedule shows the estimate and the limitation, rather than adding decimal places that imply greater precision.

Scope and limits

This is a recording aid, not instruction for operating height-measuring equipment or determining assessment thresholds.

Use the worksheet

The download contains the prompts and checks above with space for your project notes. It is a plain text document you can edit in a text editor or copy into your project brief. It contains no client information and does not run calculations, import records or change an account.
