Information to record

Use these prompts to agree the record for your project. Keep the answers and their source references together; leave an unknown value explicit rather than filling it with an assumption.

Tree ID
Match the measurement to the mapped tree.
Dimension
Identify the direction or dimension being recorded.
Value and unit
Keep metres or the agreed unit explicit.
Method
Distinguish measured dimensions from estimates.
Access note
Describe obstructions that affect the record.

Checks for this task

  1. Confirm the project convention before recording the first tree.
  2. Do not silently average different dimensions into an unlabeled value.
  3. Check the exported schedule retains units and method notes.

A worked example

Illustrative example, not a client case: T004 has two crown dimensions recorded under the agreed convention. One is measured and the other estimated because the view is obstructed. The schedule keeps both values and their methods identifiable.

Scope and limits

This worksheet records measurements; it does not prescribe a measurement standard or calculate protection zones.

Use the worksheet

The download contains the prompts and checks above with space for your project notes. It is a plain text document you can edit in a text editor or copy into your project brief. It contains no client information and does not run calculations, import records or change an account.
