Information to record
Use these prompts to agree the record for your project. Keep the answers and their source references together; leave an unknown value explicit rather than filling it with an assumption.
- Map purpose
- State the design discussion the map will support.
- Base drawing
- Identify the source, version and location basis.
- Tree layer
- List the records represented on the map.
- Legend requirements
- Explain the intended symbols and line meanings.
- Limitations
- Record missing or approximate information.
Checks for this task
- Check that tree IDs match the accompanying schedule.
- Label indicative information clearly.
- Review the final output at the size the design team will use.
A worked example
Illustrative example, not a client case: A concept map combines approximate tree locations with a current design base. The brief asks for the source and limitations to be stated so the team does not mistake an indicative discussion map for a surveyed construction drawing.
Scope and limits
A constraints map does not by itself establish approved construction limits or replace detailed assessment.
Use the worksheet
The download contains the prompts and checks above with space for your project notes. It is a plain text document you can edit in a text editor or copy into your project brief. It contains no client information and does not run calculations, import records or change an account.
