Information to record
Use these prompts to agree the record for your project. Keep the answers and their source references together; leave an unknown value explicit rather than filling it with an assumption.
- Event timeline
- Record when the event and visible changes occurred.
- Observed change
- Describe damage or movement without diagnosing its significance.
- Safe evidence
- Identify photographs already available from a safe position.
- Restricted areas
- Explain areas that cannot be accessed.
- Requested advice
- State who needs the assessment and its intended use.
Checks for this task
- Do not approach damaged trees or other hazards to obtain photographs.
- Identify any urgent access restriction when making the enquiry.
- Keep before-and-after evidence dated and linked to the same tree.
A worked example
Illustrative example, not a client case: A client has a photograph taken before a storm and a new image from indoors showing a changed branch position. Both dates are supplied, with an explicit note that the area has not been approached for closer inspection.
Scope and limits
Sorbus assessment enquiries are not an emergency response service; immediate hazards require the appropriate local emergency or site response.
Use the worksheet
The download contains the prompts and checks above with space for your project notes. It is a plain text document you can edit in a text editor or copy into your project brief. It contains no client information and does not run calculations, import records or change an account.
